About ARW Home

ARW Home, formerly known as American Residential Warranty, provides three home warranty plans at varying price points, along with add-ons for water and sewer lines, swimming pools, and home electronics. Serving all 50 states, it is highly regarded for its affordable service fee and the flexibility to choose your own technician.

ARW Warranty Plans

American Residential Warranty offers three plans: Appliance Max, Systems Max, and Total Max. Each plan varies in monthly cost and service fee, depending on the level of coverage.
  • Appliance Max: $45.99 – The most affordable plan, covering common household appliances.
  • Systems Max: $59.99 – A more expensive plan that covers home systems, such as electrical and plumbing, which can be pricier to repair.
  • Total Max: $74.99 – $84.99 – Combines the coverage provided by Appliance Max and Systems Max, offering protection for both your home’s systems and appliances.
American Residential Warranty does not publicly list its service call fee, but after contacting customer service, we confirmed that the fee can range from $55 to $125 per visit. This puts the fee either below or above the industry average, depending on the amount.
Additionally, ARW offers optional coverage for water lines, sewer lines, and household electronics for an extra monthly fee. Water and sewer line coverage ranges from $10.99 to $23.99 per month, while electronics coverage costs $24.99 per month.

ARW Home Warranty Coverage

American Residential Warranty’s services vary depending on the plan you choose. The Appliance Max plan covers only appliances, the Systems Max plan protects home systems, and the Total Max plan provides coverage for both appliances and systems. All three plans share the same financial limits and waiting periods.
Coverage begins 30 days after signing up, a typical industry practice to prevent misuse. While some companies, like AFC Home Club, offer limited coverage for issues that arise within the first 30 days (up to $150), ARW does not provide coverage for any problems during this waiting period, even if the issue is included in your selected plan.
ARW offers coverage for your water and sewer lines for an additional monthly fee. You can choose to add coverage for either water lines, sewer lines, or both. The coverage is available in the following packages:
  • Water Line Protection: For $10.99 per month, this plan covers repairs, replacements, and relining of water lines affected by breakages and leaks.
  • Sewer Line Protection: For $12.99 per month, this plan protects the private lateral sewer line, covering repairs, replacements, and stoppages.
  • Water and Sewer Line Protection: For $23.99 per month, this combined package covers both water and sewer lines. It includes a deductible of up to $125 for repairs and offers up to $2,500 in coverage for both lines over a 12-month period. The package also covers material and labor costs, as well as the expenses for excavation, paving, and re-seeding.
  • Swimming Pool Coverage: For an additional $13.99 per month, this coverage protects the working and accessible components of your swimming pool located above ground. It includes parts of the heating and pumping equipment, gaskets, pumps, motors, relays, impellers, and valves.
  • Electronics Protection: For $24.99 per month, this optional add-on covers household electronics from power surges, manufacturing defects, and everyday wear and tear. It protects the following electronics:
    • Desktop computers
    • Laptop computers
    • Tablets and iPads
    • Wireless routers
    • DVD and Blu-Ray players
    • Printers
    • TVs (LCD, LED, Flat Panel, Plasma)
    • Home theater systems
    • External hard drives
    • Gaming consoles
    • Hand-held gaming devices
American Residential Warranty’s plans do not cover the following items:
  • Central vacuum systems
  • Alarm systems
  • Bathtubs
  • Asbestos-lined ductwork
  • Gas lines
  • Geothermal and water source heat pumps
  • Pellet stoves
  • Insulation
  • Telephone wiring
  • Solar panel systems
  • Solar water heaters

Terms and Conditions

Your contract will outline what is and isn’t covered by your plan, including specific exclusions and coverage limits per item. It’s important to review these details to avoid any surprises in the event of major repairs or replacements.
Additionally, be aware of the 30-day waiting period, which means ARW will not cover service or replacements within the first 30 days of signing up for the policy. If you cancel your contract before it expires, you may be charged a $49 termination fee. Lastly, you are responsible for performing and documenting routine maintenance on your covered items; failure to do so could result in a denial of coverage.
ARW’s terms and conditions offer several valuable perks, such as the ability to shop for discounted appliances through the company’s partners if you need a replacement. Additionally, they provide up to $250 in coverage for food spoilage during blackouts, offering peace of mind during outages. While a sample contract is available on ARW’s website, keep in mind that it serves as an example, and the terms of your actual contract may vary.

Customer Support

To cancel an American Residential Warranty policy, you must submit a written request. If you cancel within the first year, a $49 cancellation fee applies. The cancellation notice must be mailed to American Residential Warranty at 901 Yamato Road, Suite 100E, Boca Raton, Florida 33487. The cancellation will take effect at the end of the current service month.

Conclusion

American Residential Warranty provides extensive coverage with a strong selection of plans that protect most home systems and appliances. Although its service fee is higher than average, it includes both parts and labor, unlike many competitors that cover only labor. Additionally, ARW allows you to choose your own service technicians, which can lead to better repair service.
However, while ARW’s plans are comprehensive, they are also on the pricier side. The most extensive coverage costs between $75 and $85 per month, which is higher than competitors like Choice Home Warranty and Select Home Warranty, whose plans cap at $55 and $64, respectively. ARW also offers a below-average workmanship guarantee of just 30 days, while competitors like AFC Home Warranty offer a lifetime workmanship guarantee for the duration of the plan.
